Exhibits - Hornbill Centre

Out of 10 species of hornbills which can be found in Malaysia, you can find 7 species of hornbills in Zoo Negara. The Hornbill Centre was newly set up in 2010 as a breeding centre for the Great Hornbills, the Rhinoceros Hornbills, the Wrinkled Hornbills and the Oriental Pied Hornbills. Hornbills pair for life and they have unique nesting behaviour. The females will seal herself and her eggs in a tree hollow with mud, regurgitate food and feaces and will leave a tiny hole to receive food from the male hornbill. Do keep your voice level down when you are taking a stroll at the Hornbill centre, the female hornbills might be incubating her eggs.
