SPEAKER'S PROFILE

Herman Bernard Ganapathy is currently the Assistant Curator for the Aquarium Department of Zoo Negara. He has been with the Zoo for the past six years. He graduated with a degree in Ecology from Universiti Malaya in 1997 and has worked with the Malaysian Nature Society for 5 years as a Scientific Officer with the Science and Conservation Department. He handled various conservation projects relating to wetlands and forestry.

Currently he heads the Akuarium Tunku Abdul Rahman, which has gone through a total revamp in terms of theme and focus. Now ATAR is the only public aquarium facility in this country which emphasizes wetland conservation and education through the theme ‘The Malaysian River Journey’. The newly refurbished aquarium displays various wetland fauna and flora depicted in tanks that have been landscaped according to various niches found along the river journey.
